project establishment.

We have a chat then I get to researching. This phase of the project involves me gathering all the information I can on your site, council requirements and planning information. If you are undertaking a renovation, I get my tape measure out and do a site survey of the existing building. We will also discuss your brief during this stage. I put all this information together in an easy to understand proposal and present this to you.

concept design.

Next is the concept design. We look at what we can do with your site and any constraints we may have to work within. We work together and form a general idea of shape, style and a list of ‘must haves’. We get to know each other and form some key design ideas that help to turn the project into something truly epic. At the end of this stage I will have some primitive site and floor plans ready for you to get excited about.

developed design.

This is where we start to get into the nitty gritty. I nail down the site plan, develop the floor plans to your exact requirements and produce elevations and 3D models of your building for you to really get an idea what it will look like. We look at materials for both the interior and exterior and start making some exciting decisions that will shape the overall aesthetic of your home.

I know I said nitty gritty before, but this is the really gritty part. I get all documentation ready to submit to council, this includes but is not limited to:

  • 3D Model & artistic impressions

  • Specifications

  • Site planning

  • Site services

  • Floor plans

  • Structural plans

  • Roof design

  • Electrical & finishing plans

  • Interior Elevations (kitchens, bathrooms etc)

  • External Elevations

  • Sections

  • Door & Window schedules

Throughout this stage I create highly detailed drawings. I like to liaise with contractors at this point and get their input so that when it comes to construction, there are no speed bumps. I will send preliminary plans to your chosen builder (if you do not have one I have some great recommendations). Your builder will then use these plans to form a contract with you.

detailed design.

I will never leave you high and dry! Once your building consent is granted, construction can begin. During this time I will provide any requests for further information to the builder as well as process any building consent amendments or minor variations (if you change your mind about something after the building consent has been granted).

I will always keep an eye on your site and make visits if and when I can to make sure every detail is being executed just how we designed it. I will attend site meetings if and when required. Once this is all done, we stand back and look at the amazing home you have created!
